RN Unit Manager

Hanover Health & Rehabilitation Center has an exciting opportunity for a Unit Manager, RN in our 120bed skilled rehab center in Mechanicsville.

 

The Unit Manager will oversee clinical operations of the unit and is responsible for staff supervision of nurses and CNAs, as well as interfacing with physicians, QI reporting and follow-up, and providing clinical expertise to staff as needed. This unit provides care for our most clinically acute patients and residents. Typical hours are Monday through Friday day shift, with some weekend and on-call duties.

 

Requirements:

•Current license by the Virginia Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse.
•Minimum three to five years of experience as an RN, preferably in long term care.
•Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state regulations as they relate to long term care.
•Nursing Management experience preferred.
•BSN preferred.

· Assesses the needs of residents with speech or language disorders and matches their needs with services available. Meets with residents regularly according to treatment program schedule, evaluates, and maintains records of residents' progress.

· Reports progress to management and family members and meets with them on a regular basis to discuss.

· Repeats evaluations on a regular basis to measure progress according to professional guidelines.

· Keeps current with professional literature and attends seminars on a regular basis to maintain and update professional skills.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Hearing ability sufficient to evaluate residents' speech.

· Skill communicating verbally and in writing with residents and family members so that all parties understand the program and the degree of progress being made.

Education and Experience:

· Master's degree in speech pathology required.

· State license as a speech pathologist required.

· A minimum of two years of experience working in the speech pathology field preferred.
